Frazier Park protest and march

At Frazier Park, in Charlotte, NC, protesters from all walks of life met in the park to gather and march on downtown, host of the Democratic National Convention.  As speeches went on in the park, this journalist drove around the perimeter, to see what was happening on the outskirts.  I found the GLAHR group gathering to march into the park.

The GLAHR marched into the park with signs that said things like, “Harvest Hope Not Hate- Repeal Hate Bill 87″  and “No Papers No Fear.”

Before they began to march, a member told me they were marching to push President Obama to pass reform on immigration laws.  As they gathered, someone began playing bongo drums and they marched into the park to join the other protesters.

I continued to drive the perimeter, and ended in a parking lot that was closed off to the public.  My vantage point gave me an outside look into the park.

I also was able to watch bicycle mounted police gather to follow the march route.  The park was filled with media and police, as well as police on every street corner along the march route, and emergency vehicles at the ready.

Vermin Supreme was also touring the outside of the park.  Supreme is a 2012 presidential candidate. He is well known for wearing a boot on his head.  One of his running platforms is to pass a law that everyone in America must brush their teeth, hence the signs he is holding in the picture that simply say, “TEETH.”

As the march began, I went to the Charlotte Convention Center, outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame, where it was rumored the march would pass. I did not intersect with the larger march, but did see a smaller group of Occupy Charlotte marchers, on their way back to Marshall Park.

It became apparent to me, that Vermin Supreme is the candidate of this group.

Some of the group were anarchists.
