Ambika Behal
Brief Biography: I was one of those kids in St. Louis who always said I wouldn’t go to Mizzou, but then I wound up here and became instantaneously obsessed. There isn’t any place I’d rather be…well, once it gets colder you might catch me wishing Mizzou was on an island in the Carribbean. I am majoring in journalism with an emphasis in magazine editing, and I am working on minors in business and psychology. I am counting down the days until the beginning of next semester as I will be a magazine intern in London.

Career Goals: I can’t wait to work in the magazine industry – hopefully in New York, London, or maybe even L.A. My dream is to be a copy editor or an editor for a women’s or bridal magazine, but I’ll take what I can get at this point. I’ve also been entertaining the idea of law school for many years, so be sure to stay tuned to see what happens with that.
Why Journalism Interests Me: I’ve always been an avid writer and reader which bodes well in my career choice. I think journalism is sort of glamorous in that no matter what your individual role is, you’re a part of something much bigger: you’re giving people the news. I’m drawn to how necessary this field is, and I love being an active participant in and contributor to the public.
Other Interests: I don’t think there is anything more mind-opening than traveling. My favorite travel experiences include Nairobi, London, Rome, Florence, and many cities in India. I love to read; there’s nothing better than not being able to put down an incredible book. I don’t usually discriminate between fiction and nonfiction – there are so many things I want to learn about! I also enjoy napping, chocolate desserts, fashion, and spending time with my friends and family…in no particular order. Oh, and I love magazines.
